State title run ends in tough disappointment for Brenham

Well, that was a bit rough. Despite keeping the Aledo Bearcats out of the end zone for the better part of the first half, a state championship just wasn't in the cards for the Brenham Cubs. A fumble inside the five yard-line and another missed opportunity deep in Aledo territory set the tone for a 38-10 loss.

Getting ready for first high school football state title game

Believe it or not, I've never been to a UIL high school football state championship game. I've been to plenty of playoff games, including two this season and four during my time in high school, but never to the state title game. But that's about to change. My cousin and the Brenham High School Cubs are headed to Dallas for the 4A Division II state championship game against Aledo on Saturday. Needless to say, I'm excited for it.

If you haven't heard about Aledo High School's 91-0 beat down of Fort Worth Western Hills in a Texas high school football game, where have you been? The Bearcats led 56-0 at the half and despite putting in second- and third-string players, fair catching every punt and running the ball, they still ended up scoring nearly 100 points.
