Live racing is a hidden treasure

Last Thursday, we, as a family, made time to make the drive to southern Denton county to meet some family and watch the Camping World Trucks Series practice and a Legend Cars race at the complex. And what an experience that was.

Parity needed in Formula One to keep it interesting

Don't worry if you found yourself uninterested in this year's Formula One season because of the dominance of Mercedes, or the prior four seasons because of Sebastian Vettel's stranglehold on the world's top racing league, because to be honest, I haven't been too interested in it myself.

NASCAR’s Chase still not perfect, but crowned a rightful champion

For the first time since 2011, there was legitimate drama in the NASCAR Sprint Cup finale at Miami-Homestead Speedway Sunday afternoon. Four drivers were battling each other and the other 39 drivers to be the first champion under the new Chase for the Sprint Cup format. And, after a pretty exciting race, including the final 20 laps, a rightful champion was crowned.

Chase Finale a culmination of what NASCAR set out

The last race of the NASCAR season coming up on Sunday in Homestead-Miami will be the culmination of what they wanted when they implemented the new Chase for the Sprint Cup format before the season began. There has been a massive amount of drama surrounding the Chase so far--not all of it of the positive variety unfortunately. It's endured the loss of two of the more popular drivers in the series, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson, who failed to advance past the second cut just over halfway through the ten race "playoffs."

Dale Jr. season so far so good, but must covert it to Chase

To say that Dale Earnhardt Jr. is having his best season in a long time might just be the understatement of the year. With three wins already this season and his ticket solidly punched for the new "win and you're in" Chase for the Sprint Cup, Earnhardt might actually be having arguably his best season ever in NASCAR.

Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee at Bristol should be a sight to see

The biggest college football news from last week wasn't the fact that Texas beat Oklahoma or Utah upset Stanford or that Georgia's injuries finally caught up them in their loss to Missouri. No. Instead, that award went to the news that the Tennessee Volunteers and Virginia Tech Hockies would square off in a game in 2016 at the famed Bristol Motor Speedway. Yes, you read that right. There will be a football game at a NASCAR track.
