This project ended up being a bit trickier than I thought it was going to be at the start.

From the outside, it seemed pretty simple. Someone I had worked with at one of the programs at UNTHSC reached out to me to see if I could build a website for a client of theirs (not in the healthcare field), and that they would just need something simple and quick.

To me, that was the perfect application of the Small Business Website Starter Kit, so I found a template on Astra that seemed to fit what they were looking for and created a development site for them on my WP Engine hosting.

The problem was that this was a larger project than what my contact and I thought it was. As it turns out, we were creating a website for John Foster, a lawyer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as he sought cases for crypto currency fraud.

While the team liked the design of the website, they needed functionality on the backend to take the potential cases. Fortunately for me, they figured out a CRM-esque solution on their side. But they needed a way to create a contract in the form of a PDF and have their client sign it.

That’s where the power of Gravity Forms and various add ons came in handy big time. I was able to use the Gravity PDF and GP Populate Anything plugins to be able to create two forms that would eventually produce a PDF that could be used by the lawyers.

The first form took in the basic information about the client and the case. That would send an email to the client with a link to a second form on the website and would pre-populate that form with the necessary information from the first form. This second form also contained the text for the contract with the blanks in the contract filled via the Populate Everything plugin.

From there, a PDF would be generated on submit with the filled in fields and signature and sent to bot the lawyers and client.

Once the site went live, I transitioned them over to the WordPress Website Care plan where I now take care of updating the website and fixing any technical issues that arise.

In the end, the website was more than I thought it was going to be, but it was a fun challenge, and I learned a lot that I can bring into future projects if need be.
