It’s been a while to say the least since I was last able to get some solid work on the Nuovo Theme I’m working on to get into the WordPress theme directory, but the progress I made this past week was great.
First off, I finally finished the theme option page complete overhaul. I figured out how to get jQuery into that page since I’m using jQuery tabs to help organize the options. Right now, I have three tabs focusing on general options, options for the home page and options for social media. There are definitely still some things that will change with the page and there will be options added to it, but for the most part, the heavy lifting for the theme options is finally finished.
Then I moved onto the featured post slider on the home page. When I left it back in January, it didn’t look too bad, but it wasn’t quite finished. So coming back to it, I added navigation buttons on either side of slideshow to help the user and viewers. The problem I ran into with this was positioning the buttons on the side and had to use absolute positioning really for the first time in the theme.
So with those two things taken care of now, I’m planning to knockout a lot with the rest of the homepage. I’m looking make some changes to the category posts, specifically the featured photos for them and then maybe move to either the sidebar styles or the category pages.
