Computer screen with the Giornalismo homepage

Continuing the Giornalismo rebuild

So there’s not too much of an update with the themes this week. I’ve continued to re-code everything in the Giornalismo theme. Over the weekend I knocked out the header template, staying close to how things are to be done in HTML5 and what not.

This week I’ve been working on the footer and homepage template, trying to get those finished before the week is over. The biggest thing I’ve been doing is paying close attention to how I’m documenting things. I’m sure it’s a little bit of overkill with all the documentation, especially for a simple WordPress theme, but at least users won’t be able to complain about not being able to find things in the code.

Next up will be the single post template and the archive template, which will be the basis for several more templates. Basically once those two are knocked out, it’ll all be down hill from there.

What I learn with Giornalismo in terms of coding things correctly will go into the complete re-coding of Nuovo at some point. And speaking of Nuovo, I had one PHP that had to be fixed quickly and hopefully that’s the last issue and it can be put into the theme directory.
