What a custom functionality plugin is and why you should use one

A lot of tutorials have you put custom code in the functions.php file. But if it affects WordPress itself in anyway, that code should really go in a functionality plugin.

Ready to release Sports Bench to the wild

Well, it's finally here. I've finished up development on the premium WordPress sports package I've worked on since May and it's time to release it to the public. Now it's time to work on some other things.

Wrapping up main development with premium sports theme/plugin combo

Roughly two months after getting started, I've finished the bulk of the development on the premium sports WordPress theme/plugin package. Now with all of the heavy lifting out of the way, it's time for testing and getting it ready for distribution.

Becoming a better, more confident developer with sports theme, plugin

Despite what I've done in the past four years in learning web development, I still felt unconfident in my web programming skills. But in creating a sports theme and plugin, I've started to feel a lot better and a lot more confident in what I'm doing.

A new year and new WordPress resolutions for 2016

This past year was quite the success for me and developing in WordPress. I got my first theme, Nuovo, into the WordPress Theme Directory. That was followed a couple of months later by Giornalismo, and Fotographia has been submitted for review. I began developing WordPress Plugins, with a total of four in the directory now (although one is a functionality plugin for Giornalismo).

Read More About plugin released this week

While waiting for Nuovo and Giornalismo to go through their respective theme reviews, I received a bit of good news this week from the plugin front. Mere days after submitting it, the Read More About plugin was approved for the WordPress Plugin Directory, making it technically the third plugin I have in the directory, but just the second stand alone plugin (one is essentially a functionality plugin for Giornalismo).

Moving right along with Nuovo

To say that the work with the rebuild of Nuovo has been quick might be an understatement. This time last week I was only a part way through the different templates. Now, seven days later, I've finished all of the template files and have put it up on the development site. Unfortunately, it didn't quite come out initially as I had hope, though that's par for the course.

JM Breaking News plugin added to WordPress plugin directory

Yesterday I announced that I had submitted a breaking news banner plugin to the WordPress Plugin Directory. A few hours after that post went up, I got the news that JM Breaking News had been accepted into the plugin directory.

Diving into the realm of plugins

After succeeding in getting a theme into the WordPress Theme Directory, I'm trying my hand at doing the same with plugins.
