  • Diving into the realm of plugins

After succeeding in getting a theme into the WordPress Theme Directory, I’m trying my hand at doing the same with plugins.

  • Moving right along with Nuovo

    Last Updated: April 19, 2017

To say that the work with the rebuild of Nuovo has been quick might be an understatement. This time last week I was only a part way through the different templates. Now, seven days later, I’ve finished all of the template files and have put it up on the development site. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite come out initially as I had hope, though that’s par for the course.

  • Playing the waiting game

    Last Updated: April 19, 2017

So this past week has been a pretty good week with the WordPress theme development. Since this time last week, I’ve submitted Giornalismo for the theme review to get into the WordPress Theme Directory as well as the Nuovo 2.0 update. That has gotten a lot off of my plate development-wise, but now comes the not-so-fun part: waiting.

  • Read More About plugin released this week

    Last Updated: April 19, 2017

While waiting for Nuovo and Giornalismo to go through their respective theme reviews, I received a bit of good news this week from the plugin front. Mere days after submitting it, the Read More About plugin was approved for the WordPress Plugin Directory, making it technically the third plugin I have in the directory, but just the second stand alone plugin (one is essentially a functionality plugin for Giornalismo).

  • WordPress 4.3 not flashy, but a solid update nonetheless

    Last Updated: April 19, 2017

Last week, WordPress 4.3, nicknamed “Billie Holliday” for the jazz musician — as are all of the major releases for the blogging platform — was released to the world. This was the first release cycle that I followed heavily through the Make WordPress blog, so none of the features in the release caught me off guard. I also took it for a test drive myself on a couple of my development sites just to test out the features and to make sure nothing in this release would break anything I have in the WordPress repositories.

  • Getting started with a new theme

    Last Updated: April 19, 2017

So the last month or so has been a down period for me and WordPress. After sending off the initial version of Giornalismo and the 2.0 release of Nuovo, I haven’t been doing much work in developing on WordPress.

  • Slow work on Fotographia

    Last Updated: April 19, 2017

So it’s been a while since I posted an update on the work on Fotographia and there’s kind of a good reason for that. Not much has happened since the last update. Things have been really busy around here, particularly with Texas athletic director Steve Patterson resigning last week and a lot of schoolwork due this week.

  • Nearing the end for Fotographia and good news with Giornalismo

    Last Updated: April 19, 2017

It’s been a busy and fun last couple of weeks of web development for me. Last week, Giornalismo was accepted into the WordPress Theme Directory and with it comes the end of just over a year’s worth of work on the theme. That has also led to really good development with Fotographia.

So this is it. After a couple of months of work, I’m just about ready to submit Fotographia to the WordPress Theme Directory for review.

  • The plan after a break from WordPress

    Last Updated: April 19, 2017

It’s been a long three-plus months. My final fall semester in college was everything that I could handle… and then some. But the semester is finally over for me and with it an opportunity to get back into developing in WordPress.

  • The blessing and curse of using Foundation

    Last Updated: April 19, 2017

So it’s been a couple of weeks since I started the process of creating my new theme, Fotographia. Since the last update, I’ve finished the mockups and begun the process of creating and styling the templates themselves.

  • Speedy development on VideoPlace thanks to Foundation

    Last Updated: April 18, 2017

Fotographia, my first WordPress theme to use the Foundation framework, took a couple of weeks of development, though outside factors ballooned that number. But VideoPlace, using Foundation 6, took just three days to finish up the bulk of development.
